No, they really shouldn't. They've traded away enough draft picks. They are still a long shot for the playoffs. I'd rather get a good look at Rudolph the rest of the season.

Take one good look at how badly the Brown family has bungled this franchise, and try explaining with a straight face how Andy Dalton is really the problem.

    I'll hang up and listen.

Remember, AJ Green got injured this summer practicing on some fakakta field (I forget the circumstances)

The fact that they're awful constantly has me wondering if Marvin Lewis is just a thoroughly mediocre coach who was employed too long because they're bad, OR, if he's actually an incredible coach because he managed to put up winning seasons even with the bozo ownership above him.

Please. Marvin Lewis sucked donkey balls. That team never got better during his time there. The Bengals managed to win its division and promptly puked on itself.

Is Baker Mayfield better than 50/50 to get a second contract from Cleveland at this point?

The latter (sorry, JGTBH). Lewis succeeded in spite of the Browns (as in the family, not the circus in Cleveland).

Some will criticize him for consistently hitting the playoff wall ... i.e., getting there and failing to win.

Note that they failed to do even that before Lewis got there and straightened out that train wreck about as much as this mess could realistically be straightened out. Factor that into consideration, and it could - should? - be argued that Lewis wasn't nearly as bad as previously thought.

Ownership is definitely an issue, but it doesn't have the same impact on an NFL team as it does in other sports. No league works as hard at making things idiot proof for its owners.

I think it is somewhere in between. Lewis wasn't an incredible coach, but he was a good one until even his message grew stale.
