Always felt she needed a little more time in DC before making a run.

I suspect she won't be the first to drop out after Iowa and NH.

Except for the part about VP Biden being the odds on favorite to be the next prez, you are so right.

 

Unless the President is shot, the VP has never been a good path to the Presidency.

14 VPs have become President - eight because the head honcho died, plus Gerald Ford.

Only four VPs - Adams, Jefferson, Van Buren and H.W. finished up their term as VP, and then were immediately elected President (does that make Nixon the other to later be elected, but not right after?).

I believe Secretary of State is the actual stepping stone job.

 

It makes sense in that, after eight years of a particular administration, it's really difficult to get a majority of the nation (electorally speaking) to vote for four more years of what is, ostensibly, the same agenda.

 

Point taken, and I thought about mentioning him, but he seems like the exception that proves the rule. He lost a primary after eight years as VP and then, after a disastrous GOP presidency, suddenly people seem to be pining for the dignity of the previous administration.

On top of that, the field is still very crowded and he's got major name recognition. A lot can change as they winnow the field.

 

From a health standpoint, if you're the VP for Biden, Sanders or Warren, you've got like a 40 percent chance. Is that enough to take the offer?
