Would have gone with someone on the offensive end - seems like most of these games were decided from the 7th inning on. My guess is Soto and Rendon cancelled each other out.

Glad the Nationals won. After the slander of Stephanie Apstein, I was really turned off by the Astros

I'd like to point out that while the Nationals hit their share of home runs, they also scored a lot of runs with singles, walks, heads-up baserunning, etc. The analytics and launch angles might translate to a 162-game season, but you've got to go back to some traditional styles of baseball in a short series.

And the Trumpies made a big deal out of becoming Astros fans because Trump got booed in Washington. I saw one posting that lamented, "well, 96 percent of Washington D.C. is liberal.
But 96 percent of Nationals fans are white suburbanites from Maryland and Northern Virginia. They were the ones booing Trump.
I like the reason for rooting for the Nats better.

That happens in the regular season as well.

To me, post-season baseball is that forgotten middle-reliever playing a critical role, the long on the tooth vet getting one last moment in the sun and those brutal or exhilarating two-out doubles just inside the foul line getting past the corner fielders. This series had all of that.

And to think, if the Brewers right fielder doesnt fuck up, it all doesn't happen

The Nationals won five elimination games this postseason (the wild card, then two each against the Dodgers and Astros). Anybody know or heard if that's a record?
The 2004 Red Sox obviously won four in the ALCS, but swept the ALDS and World Series. Some other teams might have come back from two 3-2 deficits. Can't remember off the top of my head if any other teams would have been in a position to get to five or six.

The Royals won six elimination games in 1985, coming back from 3-1 deficits in the ALCS (vs. the Blue Jays) and World Series (vs. the Cardinals).
