    Comparative politics note: Great Britain will conduct an entire national election campaign that ends on December 12. On that date, it will still be well over a month until the fucking Iowa caucuses. Why do we do this to ourselves?

    In fairness to Great Britain, the method through which they choose the candidates for Prime Minister also sucks unbelievably hard (party members vote, and to be a party member you have to actually pay it money, so it's less than 200,000 each for the Tories and Labour out of about 35 million voters) and has resulted in two horrific candidates, lying sack of shit upper-class twit Boris Johnson and hapless bungler theoretical leftist Jeremy Corbyn, also a twit.
