The umpires exist for one reason, per Earl Weaver.

He didn’t fuck up anything, they lost. Jesus.

You guys act like Grienke was pitching a gem, he was not and was coming up to the third time through the order after a homer and a walk. Same guys who hate going for it on 4th down or going for two.

Watch the video. It’s more of a joke.

But I still cannot figure out why Cole wasn’t out there for the 9th. I can see the 8th side of it, but not the 9th.

I didn’t hear this during the broadcasts, maybe I was intentionally not listening, the Astros didn’t issue an intentional walk all season or playoffs until game 2 of the World Series, when they walked Soto.

For every game I've seen a manager lose by lifting a starter too quickly (I've seen plenty), I've seen 20 where he lost by keeping said starter in that one batter (or more, right Grady Little?) too long.

Reminded in Sunday paper (thanks John Shea) of just how great Bochy and Bumgarner were/are; 2014 GM 7 Bochy goes to MadBum for 68 pitches over last 5 innings with 1 run lead after 110 in GM 5. Hunch has same opportunity with Cole (only needs 3) and fails to pull trigger. Hinch let Morton finish in 2017, why note Cole?
