This person pops off a lot on Twitter but I thought this was the best thing I've seen from the Gawker, pre-Trump world.

I have a question on how the essay became the chosen vehicle for 'great journalism' - but that's neither here nor there.

It’s not the vehicle for great journalism. It’s a vehicle for self expression, which millennials and Gen Xers like to do because Baby Boomers
were busy with work and their friends and not their kids.

It’s like Halloween in that way, the essay. My God, there is so much Halloween.

    Alma-
    I agree with you.
It's free-wheeling, unconstrained and also happens to be the easiest genre in which to work.
    Easy money, in my view.
A 200-word book blurb? That takes chops. Decision-making, too.

lol ... as the attention-hungry Gen X middle son of a workaholic pathologist father and social butterfly mother trying to keep up with the Jonesbergs, I can tell you that this is pretty much the dealio.

Besides nuance, where's the subtlety, where's the finesse?

NYT ticktock says their CBA has a no-strike clause, so that option wasn't available to them. Obviously they're not getting any severance, either.

If you can’t strike then you really do have a virtue signal union.
