I think you leave them on and let people go crazy, which will in turn drive up traffic because visitors will keep coming back to see the latest incendiary comments. Turn it back into a real public forum, i.e., a cesspool, and not the current cool kids club of bluecheck humps in a circle jerk.

Alma's sense of uncool and the reality of uncool cross paths at the intersection of something something.

"With 1 and a half pair of pants you ain't cool."

    Yep.

I'll be interested to see where these guys land. The Nation and Mother Jones can't possibly hire all of them, and most of them are only employable by the furthest left of publications. And I wouldn't be surprised if many of them discover that they don't have the bona fides they apparently fancy themselves to have. Apart from Roth, who seems to have built himself an audience, most of them are barely above replacement level writers and/or one-trick ponies that don't have an original thought in their head beyond trying to out-woke the field. The real question is where will the audience go, because the echo chamber that Deadspin built is the only reason the majority of these folks are known.

Tweeting "my DMs are open" ... "if anyone's hiring I'm willing to listen" ...

Such a millennial thing to do.

Please, that piece wasn't nearly as bad as some of the dreck on Deadspin.

Not saying it was worthy of an award either.

But let's be fucking real here.

Twitter beating. I just wrote my first piece for Deadspin, too. I'm not on Twitter, so if someone wants to try to give me a beating, they'll have to meet me at Penn Station.
