Now I'm going to be stuck thinking of what should have been instead of what we're going to get.

I don't doubt that that could have been the finale they had in mind at one point, but christ, this last trio of Skywalker films, along with Rogue One and Solo, have obviously been hacked at throughout the script, filming and editing process. Going with that as an ending makes sense as a sort of tribute, because she passed away, but if she was alive I'm not sure how it would be received.

I always thought it was idiotic that Luke would not have trained Leia as a Jedi, after essentially having been ordered to do so by Yoda.

But instead? They had her walk through the vacuum of space like she was Deep Space Jedi Jesus. Christ, what an insanely idiotic scene that was.

Original trilogy in 4K on Disney+. Loving it so far.

I really do not have the free time to properly enjoy my new purchase. :)

My guess is their original vague concept was that Leia was going to do something heroic and Jedi-like in "The Last Jedi," but when Carrie Fisher went and died on them they ended up with an "action sequence" that consisted of her floating motionless in space.
And now they're stuck with essentially the same situation for TROS.

How about they have some narrative balls and just leave her dead and move on to different characters?

They certainly don't seem to have any problems killing off the old-time characters, since they whacked Han Solo in TFA, apparently killed off Luke Skywalker in TLJ, and apparently intend to kill off C-3P0 and maybe Chewbacca in TROS.
Unfortunately in their rush to kill off the original trilogy characters, the one they waited the longest to kill was the one who actually died.

Don't know where to post about The Mandalorian... here, the Disney thread or the TV thread. I'll go with here.

Thought the first episode was really good. Cool character. Has the Star Wars "feel." Great little nods to the mega-fans.

The reveal at the end, which I won't spoil here, makes me really interested to see where this is going.

I'm sure it will be discussed in both places. I also enjoyed the first episode. That is probably already more screen time for a Mandalorian than Boba Fett had in the entire series of movies, and I'm including young Boba in Attack of the Clones.
