I wonder what Pence will be thinking between the House vote and the Senate vote. I've got to assume that on some level he realizes what a disaster Trump is, and that he has his own more-than-healthy ego and ambition that would make him hope the Senate votes to convict, but he's got to pretend that he is horrified by the idea. Has Al Gore ever talked about what he was thinking? I imagine that someone in that position would at least think about contingency plans like, "what should I say to the ex-president?" and, "what points should I make in my first remarks to the press and the White House staff and the Cabinet?" and even in Pence's case, "how do I respond when Trump tries to resist?" and, "do I pardon Trump?"

 

Today's hearing reminds me how much I prefer the British pronunciation of "dee-position" as opposed to our "deh-position."
