I understand that interest in Bill Clark is inevitable, and it is far better for UAB to have a HC that others want to hire away than one that no one is interested in. I just won't be comfortable until the carousel stops spinning.

I can't see Kiffin in Fayetteville after the disaster in Knoxville.

But was it really a disaster? It’s been a decade. Is Kiffin a better coach now or more mature?

I'd like to think that him spending some time with Saban did him some good.
You don't really hear much about him in Boca.

Steve Addazio supposedly out at Boston College.

Not sure exactly what they expect. The last coach who got them places, Tom O'Brien, wanted to go somewhere that got him and his program recognition. He got all he wanted and a lot more in Raleigh.

I won't disagree that Addazio didn't lead them back to the days of Doug Flutie, etc., but are they being unrealistic? Boston-area sorts are encouraged to respond and inform us.

BC needs a gimmick. No kid ever grew up wanting to play ACC football, whether in the south or in Boston.

It’s hard to call Kiffin’s time in Knoxville an outright disaster. He took the job with a vision toward the long term; before that season no one was expecting Pete Carroll to pull the ripcord that quickly. You have to factor that in.

Perhaps the worst HC in college football. Had no idea how to do it. Needs to be a coordinator.

To be more specific, it's from one of the Mavens. So it doesn't count.

What's really interesting is that Pat Forde has contradicted the Maven. My money's on Pat.
This conflict is fascinating because it reminds us that a hedge fund owns SI these days. Corporate greed continues to ruin the media.

The guy recently whacked at Arkansas begs to differ.

Kiffin has been at FAU for three years. In his first season, he got 11 wins with a team that had won three games for the previous three seasons. They backslid to five wins last season, and have nine so far this year. To my eyes, FAU is the most complete team in C-USA this year. He's done good work there.

Has he gotten the immature nonsense out of his system? I don't know, but he seems to have grown up a bit. He has enough name value that the post-hire presser wouldn't be a disaster.
