If competitive opportunity was the only consideration, Arkansas would be wise to seek another conference. Of course, that's not the world we live in.

 

I just checked Ole Miss' future schedules, and they'll be coming to Knoxville in 2021. That should be fun if this hire goes through.

 

Drinkwitz seems to be Plan B for Arkansas.

The main thing I learned from that article, and clicking on two links to previous stories, was that I shouldn’t read CBS Sports.

 

FAU should do what Saban did and whack Kiffin right now for spending all his time interviewing for other gigs and lining up staff rather than helping his current team prepare for its conference's title game.

Speaking of this, somebody leaked the Ole Miss news. Who would stand to benefit from that? UAB? The agent of a coach on staff who's hoping to be elevated? Neither Kiffin nor Ole Miss would benefit. But there's somebody in the know who has decided the revelation would be beneficial.

 

When there is a leak involving a Jimmy Sexton client, he is my first suspect. I don't know how UAB would know about it to leak it, unless you're saying that the rumor is totally fabricated.

My guess is that there's an Ole Miss big booster who just couldn't stand not to wave his insider status dick around and show off how well connected he is. Could also be that nothing has been signed yet and Jimmy's hoping to goad Arky into upping their offer.

 

Not sure Kiffin is a "win" at this point. He's the coaching equivalent of Katherine Heigl.

 

Nobody who heard or watched Petersen's press conference the other day thinks he's going to stay in coaching without a break.
As for Meyer, he has twice taken medically related leaves. Coaching for Jerry Jones, who delivers a State of the Union speech every week, does not seem like a particularly low-stress gig.
