Yeah - Cal was at the bottom of total offense the last two years. Not a bad landing spot. Wonder whatever happened to Coach Nickerson and Djordjavic?

He has interviewed or been mentioned for many FBS jobs: Washington State, Oregon State, Nevada, etc., but never got hired. Somewhere there's a red flag. The EWU program he left two years ago is light years ahead of Cal Poly.

It’s the same speech he gave in Boone a year ago. Almost to the word, soooooo, yeah.

I can’t wait until he gets pressed by the Missouri beat writers. You could hear him get annoyed with the App State writers who only lobbed softball questions.

Fair point, but if he wins, no one will care.

A little surprised he got that level of job after just one season in Boone, but I can speak for his ability to put together an offense. One year after leaving Raleigh and NCSU is a mess offensively. Of course, that meant the DC was turfed. Good to see everything is back to normal in Raleigh.

Back to Drink ... I don't doubt that he might get a little touchy ... I'd expect expendable to know more about that. But if he wins, gets the right players in there and keeps his nose clean, these are small quibbles. I mean, he could spend more time charming the media and be clueless on the sideline during the game ... I think most would take a little clumsy with the media and competent as ... a football coach.

I’m just glad he isn’t some 50-plus retread. Seems he can coach a little, but the real test is if he can recruit the talent he needs. Or, like Pinkel, get 3-star guys and have them improve enough to compete. But, really, there’s no substitute for talent.

He grew up about in a suburb of where I live. I was at the paper when he was a stud high school athlete. I’ve heard nothing but good things about him since then. I hope he does well.

    Best of those 3?
Chad Morris and it won't be close.

The current leading candidates for the UNLV HC job seem to be LSU Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda and Oregon Offensive Coordinator Marcus Arroyo. Why in seven hells either of them would take a largish pay cut to take that job is beyond me. I understand the "I want to be a head coach" mentality, but why not somewhere that does not have such a high percentage chance to crash and burn?

They don't even bother trying any more.

Is Lavrov in the running for the UAB job or something?
