I agree with this. Her role is designed for attention. Yes. It sways me not but is indeed designed to be a kind of philosophical car wreck.

I am amused by the fervent, dire need for workable solutions that, if not enacted very soon, will be the end of the world as we know it, this just-so sweet spot of changes that affects only the bads, none of the goods, and lets everybody be as cool and free - always free! - as they’ve always been, except the bads, because how dare them!

There’s evidence that, to affect any real change, we’d have to do drastic, unpleasant things - like stop traveling or flying. In Other words, deeply inconvenient things that most people have no interest in doing.

 

they are just Rush callers. Why do we expect anything from them? Remember is 4th and 5th grade when they broke down the classes into groups for math and reading. Well these are the lower of three groups. Not developmentally challenged enough to be in another class, but just plain not bright enough and frustrated because they can’t understand what most of the class gets. They are now a plurality. And they live in enough states to win the electoral college. They bring the right wing radio caller mentality to everything. Reducing everything to simplistic slogans based on misstatements of facts and just made up facts and conspiracy theories. The almas of the country aren’t interested in making anything better, just making their betters uncomfortable.

It'd be interesting to see ProPublica or a similar organization take a look at recipients of previous Presidents' pardons and see how many of them have been accused or convicted of new crimes after being pardoned (or having their sentences commuted, which falls into the same general category). If there are very few, that would be reassuring, but I wonder. I assume the incumbent will pardon lots of his enablers, but maybe as his term ends, he won't care about others enough to issue too many egregious pardons of garden-variety criminals with political connections.
