NFL Week 16: The Vinny Testaverde Feel Good

They were doing it because they got busted doing something they weren't allowed to do. The reason I believe Belichick can do something with that video is he seems to believe it. That's why his team has been caught doing it more than once.

Again, based on their history, the Patriots get zero benefit of the doubt.

 

Every single word/action by the Patriots personnel in this situation has been a screaming admission of guilt about intent. If Belichick isn't involved, somebody important in the organization under him sure must be.

2) If we did it, it wouldn't help anyway
3) Everyone does it
4) We did it, but wuddabout...
5) YOU HATE US CUZ YOU AIN'T US FACK YOU

Thing about the Patriots - everyone raves about how no detail goes unnoticed with that organization. They're on top of everything. They'll cut a player to sign a player from an upcoming oppenent just to download what they might know for an edge. Then cut that player and grab another. Hell Belichick cut a guy THE NIGHT BEFORE THE SUPER BOWL! (And I don't even think he replaced him on the roster).
But no, of course they wouldn't stretch the rules - that would be cheating.

 

All of that is why I don't buy the excuse that the team didn't know what the film crew was doing. Not a chance.

 

So he hyer-manages his roster to get better results without breaking any rule and that is proof he cheated.

 

Combine with the fact that his organization just got caught cheating for the third time and there is no way he would tolerate that much renegade behavior in the organization, then it is at least a hell of a lot of smoke. Maybe it doesn't rise to the level of evidence the league would need to discipline Belichick directly, but do you really believe the Patriots got caught cheating three times now and he never knew about any of it until it became public?

 

Could be worse. At least Matt Millen isn’t around to take a wide receiver.
