Susan Collins announces she's running for re-election. Gonna be a tough road to hoe for her, which she's not used to at all.

 

Isn't Collins the lone Republican from all of New England?
I don't know anything about Maine politics and have never been to the state. I do know folks up there make an excellent pair of boots. #StuffILikecrossthread
If she isn't booted out of office, though, it's proof that it's not just my corner of the country is stupid.

 

In Congress, yes. Mass., N.H. and Vermont all have Republican Governors, however, all of whom are quite popular and none of whom could win a Republican primary anywhere else. Collins has coasted for years on a reputation as "bipartisan," a word she used in the very first sentence of her announcement today. This goes down well in Maine, whose de facto Democratic Senator Angus King is nominally an Independent. But every time this spring that Brett Kavanaugh is on the winning side of a 5-4 Supreme Court decision, Collins' reputation as a "centrist" will take another shot to the body.
