The problem with threads like that is that either in person or on Twitter, I'm never gonna meet any of those guys because I live in a different part of the country. So I'm not going to be in position to persuade them of anything on any topic, political or otherwise. I am also of the opinion that most people need to work things out for themselves. If they can't figure out Trump, Fox and the Republicans are playing them for suckers, nobody's going to change their minds with little things like facts.

I'm going to be pedantic here. Sorry, I just have to. It's "A tough row to hoe", as in crops grown in rows. Although I can certainly see that hoeing a road would be substantially tougher.

I live in one of those more-rural red states.

There’s nothing that the Democratic Party can do to get this state’s Electoral College votes.

A possible wild card is an initiative to put recreational marijuana on the 2020 ballot. That won’t be enough to shift the state bluish, but it might help the lone Democrat congresswoman, a freshman, remain in Washington.

That's true so far as it goes, but I spend a fair amount of time scanning Twitter (I know. Duh!) and I continually see people who are anti-Trump and pro-Constitution dragged and given a world of shit by self-righteous prigs because they are insufficiently woke and liberal. I understand that most of Red America isn't on Twitter to speak of, but I strongly suspect that's at least in part where he's coming from. He's also suggesting talking points and tactics to people like me, who do talk to those people. I hear ignorant shit come out of people's mouths every day that I leave the house. Maybe "Did you know that Trump was fined two million dollars for taking money collected by his charity for veterans and kids with cancer and buying art, paying his bills, and for his campaign?" won't change their minds, but if they check it is true, and that sort of thing plants a seed.

And yes, I know that you can't plant seeds in rock, but I have to try.

I wish. Alabama does not have a lottery, because that's too controversial and the churches oppose it, so tens of millions of our dollars (or more) crosses the state line to Ga., Tenn., Fla., or Miss. We *could* get some of that money back by legalizing and letting them spend their money here, but noooooooo. We'll be last at that, just like every damn thing else. Shitheads in the lege.

Doug Collins just said "irregardless" and stated that Trump was elected by a majority.

    That is all.

I live in Arkansas - where medical marijuana was approved by voters in the 2016 election and the state went solidly for Trump. My vote for any Democrat or third-party candidate is worthless. The state will again go for Trump in 2020, no matter what. (Side note on the medical cannabis thing: It's been more than three years since voters approved it and the state is just now getting around to licensing dispensaries.)

The Democratic Party of Arkansas is in shambles. They got one guy to run against Tom Cotton. But then he dropped out a couple of hours before the filing period closed - thanks to oppo research done by Cotton's cronies. How the state went from having David Pryor and Dale Bumpers (I highly recommend his autobiography) in the Senate to Cotton and the empty suit that is John Boozman would be an interesting read.
