One other question: Can these articles be amended to include new charges as they arise?

If they are not going to send the impeachment to the Senate, there is still time to let things develop and add to it. Rudi's latest lunacies, any court decisions on forcing testimony, his tax records, whatever comes to light can be included. I also wonder if John Roberts has anything to add publicly or privately with regard to McConnell and Graham saying publicly that their oaths are worthless. Trump will be even more unhinged since he's been impeached but it isn't going anywhere, just hanging over his head. All this craziness is just going to sit and simmer and fester. Who knows where it goes from here.

Probably not, but certainly new ones can be added. I guess we'll find out, because we all know that more will be coming out. If nothing else Trump will admit to more stuff while he's spewing out bile, or Rudi Colludi will "help" his client into some more charges.

A second bill, then. Is there enough popcorn and booze to get us through this?

Nobody talks as long as Trump, either.

And another one's gone; another one's gone; another one bites the dust.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Republican North Carolina congressman Mark Meadows, a top Trump ally, says he won’t run for reelection.

POS knows he can't win with the new maps NC was forced to adopt. The only reason he ever got elected is because of gerrymandering in Asheville.

No, the map the state adopted protected Meadows. There's some other reason. My guess is he's been offered a K Street job for about five times his Congressional salary or he's gonna run for the Senate in 2022.

I don't doubt the lobbying job or moving to be an official Trump lackey, but I don't know if this protects him or not. The district looks similar to the pre Meadows days.

Last night's Trump speech was of course going to be a doozy and it was, but it also shows one of his most fundamental problems for 2020. EVERY incumbent President of no matter which party campaigns on the mantra "Happy Days Are Here Again."
"Morning in America" is the same statement. Trump would like to do this, but grievance is so central to his personality and to that of his "base" that rallies become bitch fests, stomping on their own message. Eventually some voters (and it doesn't take many) start to think, "well, if things make you so unhappy, how come you haven't fixed them?"
