Iran has been preparing, quite prudently, for war with the US for 40 years. They've likely game planned every possible scenario. That doesn't mean they've come up with good answers, but they have plans. Iran's situation is also about as different from Iraq and Al-Qaeda as could be. Far stronger foe with far more resources militarily, politically, and diplomatic. For one thing, has long border with Russia and good relations with Russia.

Iran has 80-million people and Iraq has more than 35m, we've made them allies. Do we really want to get into a shooting war with both of them?

Shooting war? Not sure what you mean. What capabilities do either possess to attack our country? Terrorist attacks? We can bomb them into kingdom come and they have no means to reach our mainland. At least not that I'm aware of. Look, I don't like all this saber-rattling, but these guys had to pay a price for that embassy bullshit and the impending campaigns. It's a fine line between going too far in protection and going just far enough. Hopefully we didn't exceed.

Again, I don't like Trump -- at all. But what was the play here after the embassy incident? Tighter sanctions? These guys don't play nice and never will. They don't respect our way of life. It seems at some point, the two cultures are gonna hafta have it out.
