What can Iran do besides step up the shit they've already been doing? It's not like they're going to invade Massachusetts. They'll harrass and provoke us around the globe in small, annoying ways. Maybe within a few months we send some cruise missiles into Tehran. If we actually put boots on the ground there, I'm sure we could force regime change, but, IMO, we'd be lucky if that played out as well as the last 16 years in Iraq have, and that was an unmitigated disaster.

I don't know. Maybe they'll hack some US infastructure. I'd be surprised if it rises above "annoying" though. Maybe it will. Guess we'll find out.

 

We do not have enough boots to put on the ground in Iran to enforce a regime change. It's not like Saddam and Iraq. There are very big mountains (near the border with friendly Russia) where a rump version of the current government could last for years. There are many Iranians who have no use for their current rulers, but the evidence of what's happened across the border in Iraq is unlikely to encourage them to throw their lot in with us.

 

They could sink a tanker in the straights and screw the Saudis. This isn’t about the US. It’s about Iran v Saudi Arabia. The US Military is just a mercenary contractor. Trump gets paid with a month of full houses at the Trump Hotels at $6k a night. They’ll send some missiles to Tel Aviv via Syria and Putin will warn the US on retaliation.

This is all leading rather neatly into an election cancellation, by the way.
