Its not like Durkin sent some kid up on a scissor lift to film practice during a gale-force windstorm.

Shit, I remember when Mizzou had a player die during a summer workout, and witnesses said teammates who went to help him when he collapsed were told by the trainers on hand to leave him be and not to help him and baby him (paraphrase), and then he died. That got swept under the rug pretty quickly. Didn't affect Pinkel's legacy one bit.

The 15-20 number may be conservative. At the same time, when things happen like they did Maryland, I'm fine with Durkin never coaching again.

In this day and age, with the information that is out there on these types of situations, if your answer to a kid facing these symptoms is to yell, "GET UP! STOP BEING A PUSSY!" you're either a knuckle-dragging asshole too obstinate to change with the times or you're too fucking dumb to be in charge of anyone.

I figured the “don’t be a pussy” rhetoric went out the window with Korey Stringer’s death. Almost 20 years ago.

Moorhead would’ve been a great fit back in Happy Valley.

A kid died under his watch and what happened with respect to that event and Durkin’s behavior generally was reported. I didn’t hear him or anyone else say that the facts disclosed were inaccurate. But you live in a land of victimization as a result of perceived media bias.

Did they do that to divert attention from the rape allegations?

Durkin apologized. The family got millions. The school was publicly shamed.
Why doesn’t he deserve a second chance? He wasn’t convicted of a crime or even arrested and his girlfriend/wife dropped the charges, changed her story or didn’t cooperate? For the second or third time. It’s not like noted child abuser Adrian Peterson who said he’d still whip his kids and continues to get paid and playing time without criticism. What is it about Durkin and the accidental and possibly preventable death of player that makes him different? At least Durkin didn’t make a story that he was insulted with a racial epithet.

You're just a way better person than me. What can I say?

So what dirt is going to come out of the MissState program? Surely they didn’t fire the coach to arms race Ole Miss hiring Kiffin.

My guess is that it was deemed he "didn't fit" and they're using the players fighting each other to justify ousting him. It isn't like the program has nosedived under his watch, they outrecruited Ole Miss. I think if I'm the next coach I want a longer guarantee. Moorhead's a good coach, probably would have been seen as a better hire than Kiffin at Ole Miss or that guy Arky hired.

Yeah. This was an awful fit from the get-go. I think the guy is a good coach but he was never going to fit in Starkville.
