I don't think that the Iranians are cowed by Trump's "I'm crazy! Don't screw with me, I might do anything!" schtick. I don't think they'll be willing to just take it, sit down and shut up. I think that there will be a retaliatory strike at a time and place of their choosing, and likely not in the near term. He's not doing the carrot and stick thing right either. He hit them with the stick with an assassination, tells them to take it and be good and then hits them with yet more sanctions.

 

It changed absolutely nothing as far as the Iranians and how they'll handle things. He was replaced by his right hand man, who came up the same way, believes the same ideology, and was trained by Soleimani.

I know the whole, "Iran is a bunch of crazy fundamentalists Muslims who chant death to America and want to kill us!" is popular in America, but over the last 40 years they've earned a pretty reliable reputation for - when the rubber meets the road - acting rationally and in a manner consistent with self preservation.

No, fuck that. Bombing those world heritage sites accomplishes nothing other than to show that we are every bit as barbaric as ISIS was when they blew up ancient statues of Buddha.

You bomb military targets. You kill their soldiers. You flatten their war making industries, ports, railroads, strategic targets.

You don't target civilian populations, hospitals, schools, museums. Not if you are a decent human being.
