From my personal experience: Most Trump supporters don't grasp the facts of the matter.

When asked, you get a lot of, "There was nothing wrong in the transcript!" and it doesn't go much deeper than that.

 

Meanwhile......

I don't know if Harris helps Biden in traditional balancing the ticket terms, and I certainly don't think that ticket draws away anyone who would otherwise vote for Trump over Biden on their own. It just seems to me like Biden/Harris might get people who may otherwise just stay home to turn out on election day.

Turnout is key in November.

Those of us who are going to vote no matter what will vote for a cardboard cutout over Trump. The DNC has to pick a ticket that will get people to show up in record numbers.

 

That poorly trained operator wouldn't have been launching anything at anything if Trump hadn't ratcheted things up.

I think Harris would be a perfectly fine VP pick for Biden, who, as I've said on many occasions, is too old for my tastes.

But you know how the GOP campaign is going to go if that's the ticket, and it won't be even close to subtle. Paraphrase: Joe is old, and could DIE in office, so do you want that ... woman ... in charge of the United States? That woman? That black woman?

The quiet thoughts are said out loud these days, and the racism would be off the charts. I'm not saying she shouldn't be a VP candidate — she absolutely should — but a whole other level of hell is going to be visited on her by the ravening, rabid weasels of the GOP machine.

 

In my experience, they do grasp facts and either don't care or come up with their own facts. They hate progressives so much - and political BS from both sides too much - that they're willing to accept the devil because he's their devil and pokes at the people who act like they're better than everyone else.

I'm not applauding it. It's awful. But to file it under stupidity...no. I don't think that's the primary thing. It's anger. It's hatred. It's a deeply personal thing for many Americans, and progressives/conservative libertarians either reckon with it or take their chances on a whole variety of fronts, including the 2020 presidential election.

 

A plurality of GOP voters consume only partisan media, which has well conditioned them to dismiss contrary facts as, "well this is just a liberal outlet working for the Democrats."

It's like Pepsi telling people that Coke is the devil, and people swallowing it without a taste test.

Therefore: Uranium One! Benghazi! Hunter Biden! Read the transcript! etc. etc. etc.

 

Well, it wouldn't work. Trump's approval rating was lowest around the Charlottesville event.

His approval rating went negative very early in his tenure starting with the Muslim ban.
