Yes, and obviously I agree. But it needs to be mentioned in any comprehensive first-day news stories, too, along with his many career accomplishments, and not just reserved for an obituary . I can easily understand why you can leave it out in anything written in the first 4-5 hours.

Yeah, a friend of mine texted me with the TMZ report, hoping it was a hoax. I told him it was probably legit if TMZ broke it.

You, me and anyone and everyone who has and had problem with what he did in Colorado in 2003 has had 16 years to call him out on it. He died today with his daughter going to his daughter’s game as a father.

the 16 years since doesn’t provide any perspective, context or mitigation on it but his life between then and today does allow a period, now, to either mourn publicly or shut up. In the days or weeks ahead it will appropriate to recall that incident in whatever context you choose. But on the day he and his daughter are killed, rehashing the incident is neither civilized nor humane.

Same here. Never a big fan even before the trial - he seemed to lack authenticity, but the guy could hoop.
Hard to believe he only started seven games his first two years in the league. Most lottery picks these days would have demanded a trade.

Was the last graf of AP's latest story. But it's sure to be mentioned in the followup stories.

Nothing on Lakers website, Facebook or Twitter. They probably can’t believe it either.

That one always hacks me off.
If anybody were to be asked, "Should there be a period of mourning after your death or should life continue as normal?" nobody except Trump would say, "Life should shut down." Everybody would say, "Carry on."
The truth, however, is that the deceased do not get to make this call, and the living don't get to speculate on decisions that impact everybody. Decisions on how to grieve are personal. I'm hacked off if anybody had to play through grief because of this mindset. Better to err on the other side.
