Jesus man don’t leave. You didn’t make the crack about Kobe being a helicopter parent. I did. And when I told my fiancé — thinking it was oh so brilliant and funny — she chopped my ego out at the knees. We all deal with death in different ways, and when it’s a controversial figure, people think and say shit that is in itself controversial. No reason to commit ritual suicide.

As a stone cold Gen Xer, I lament Cobain's death and what music lost. I wasn't particularly broken up about it. He chose to do it. He wasn't taken. He left.

Drug addiction and depression are very real things. Would it have been any different if he were found with a needle in his arm instead of a shotgun in his mouth?

Not really. A bad choice was still made at some point.

Checked quickly and couldn't find anything that confirmed that.
The sixth fatality was a woman who was the coach at the middle school that Bryant's daughter attended. Her husband confirmed.

The Montage of Heck doc showed a very real side of what that relationship was like and what Kurt was like at the end. I get what people are saying. I also had a good friend who out of nowhere put a shotgun in his mouth and ended it at age 27, and none of us knew he was hurting to that extent. We were trapped between sadness and being angry that he wouldn’t reach out to us in his hour of need. It’s all so fucked up.

I knew there was one in the recent past that I had forgotten.

Wouldn't be election season without a candidate having a sports gaffe. At least he got "Los Angeles" right.

I remember watching Magic announce that he had HIV and I never thought I’d be that shocked again to hear such tragic news about an iconic athlete I had known so much about for such a long stretch of my life.

I never liked Kobe. There are a host of reasons why. But him dying in a freak accident with his daughter and seven others is sad as hell.
