HERES A FUN FACT......LEN DAWSON is the only QB in the HOF that never took a snap with any other offensive player also in the hall......5 years from now, ELI most likely will become the 2nd ever......

 

Watched the end of the Pro Bowl for some reason (oh yeah, I was hoping to watch the Ducks-Beavs but they were punted down the ESPN ladder with the Bryant news) - Kirk Cousins had a wonderful fourth quarter, fumble (at the opponents 6) returned for an AFC TD, then went deep on the 4-15 non-onside kick trying to reach one guy being covered by two and got picked.
Wilson ceded the starting qb position to Brees (Brees can't be retiring can he? - then again maybe MNF ups the offer and lands Peyton instead. I will say it's nice that they get a full house for the Pro Bowl in Orlando.

 

Otis Taylor the only possible Chiefs offensive candidate of that period.

 

There is a Hall of Famer from the offensive side of the ball for the Chiefs from that time period, but Jim Tyrer will never get in

 

Horrible story. One day they should just put up a plaque in Canton with his achievements and story. No induction ceremony.

 

It's so much more likely he suffers from an undiagnosed mental illness that preceded any hit he took in the NFL.

 

That fourth-and-15 play was one of the most ridiculous moments of the Pro Bowl, almost worse than the AFC's Courtland Sutton practically escorting the NFC's Fletcher Cox to the end zone on an interception return.
So the AFC intercepted the fourth-and-15 non-onside kick around its own 15-yard line and starts returning it. They get up to about midfield and start lateraling the ball to try and return it, and after two or three of them they get what looks like a guy in some space with some blocking set up. This was a good 10 seconds or so AFTER the ball was intercepted.
At that point, the officials blew the play dead.
What in the holy fuck?
Obviously, the rules were unclear. Can the defense return a turnover on that play for some sort of score? Should it be blown dead as soon as there's a turnover, like they used to do on two-point conversions before they changed the rule? If the offense scores, is it a touchdown or do they just get the ball back needing to score again? If the pass had been complete at the AFC 15-yard line, would the NFC get the ball that deep or do they just get it back at their own 25?
Whatever the rule is, the way it was officiated was a nightmare. Even Pete Carroll seemed pissed on the NFC sideline. With all of the laterals, he was obviously hoping for an AFC fumble and a recovery (which is another plausible scenario that was never addressed).
There are a hell of a lot of things they need to clarify if they're thinking of putting that atrocity in the rule book for real.

 

Agreed. It isn't like onside kicks haven't been returned for touchdowns.

 

Dawson was the back-up to Milt Plum of the Browns in 1960 and 1961. So he played with Jim Brown, Bobby Mitchell, Mike McCormick and Gene Hickerson. I know Dawson hardly played with the Browns but not beating out Milt Plum for a starting job is hardly a HOF credential.
