I was a senior in high school when Challenger exploded. Many kids, myself included, were very late to our next class, riveted to the TV in the library.

As there is no good reason for those nine dying, I am afraid it is starting to look to me like catastrophic pilot error.

Plus -- although it's been revealed that his administration (as did others) frequently fudged or skirted the truth in public statements -- you could generally assume in matters of basic physical fact they were at least making an attempt at truth.

Not just that, had all five RBIs, too. And the Yankees began a four-game series the day after Munson died, and didn't have a day off until Aug. 11.

That'd be my amateur guess, along with a sudden medical episode. Which would make those last minutes even worse than we've already imagined.

Stephen A is so distraught he’s changing his name to Stephen A Bryant.

Combination huge pilot error even to take off, and control error for allowing it. I wonder if the controller on duty knew that was Kobe's chopper and extended permission that might otherwise have been denied. If so, you know that ATC is still sick at his stomach.

A cast of guys on TNT are sitting around at center court inside Staples Center talking about Kobe. Jerry West is struggling, man. This is about as somber as you’ll ever see Reggie Miller.

I feel like callous Rovell bot for saying this, but this is riveting.

The TNT crew are as real as it gets.

And Feb. 1 is anniversary of the Columbia breakup. This is the worst week on the calendar for NASA and space enthusiasts.

I could listen to Jerry all day. Not sure anyone in the NBA would have better stories to tell, considering all of his years in the league.
