    One more thing about Izzo
If State hires Fickell, or they have to go to Narduzzi or Mike Tressel, that means Dane Fife is off the table as an Izzo successor
Izzo’s replacement is almost certain to be African American and very unlikely to be top assistant Dwayne Stephens
I’m amazed Izzo didn’t go to TV years ago

Why is Dwayne Stephens unlikely to get the job/ What disqualifies him?

They would prefer a high profile guy like Shaka Smart
That’s also a problem for Fife and the other assistants

He's been on staff almost 30 years -- I think he was a grad ass under Heathcote -- and has never seriously been considered for any outside HC job.

He's also in a weird position on the staff: he's not the main X/O guy (Fife) and not really the ace recruiter either. He's basically just kinda there.

He was Crean’s top assistant at Marquette
He’s listed as the top recruiter but that’s really Izzo

Yeah, ok, I forgot that brief diversion at Marquette.
Still, all the supposedly hot prospect heir apparents on Izzo's staff have gone off to HC positions of their own -- Crean, Stan Heath, Brian Gregory the leading names. But they all stumbled to varying degrees.

And the one with the most success is Crean and he’s been hit or miss

Right. If he gets Georgia going at a good level the next few years, he could be a top prospect, but he's 53 right now, so "after a few years" he'd be too old, plus if he got UGa going at a good level, why would he leave for Michigan State?

Iowa State to MSU isn’t a jump at all. It’s a step back. ISU is a better job than Michigan State.

You can’t win that division at Michigan State right now. You can play for the Big 12 title at ISU.

Campbell made $3.6 million to Dantonio's $4.4 million in 2019. So if the Spartans are willing, that's what any of us would consider a huge raise. But it's not life-changing for coaches. The bigger deterrent may be the NCAA issues. I think I'd stick in Ames, too.

Michigan State has been to a Rose Bowl, CFP and a NY6 bowl in the past seven years
It won Big Ten titles against Meyer, Harbaugh and Franklin
To say Iowa State is a better job is laughable
No, Campbell wouldn’t leave but nobody ever thought he would
    He can do better
I don’t know if Luke Fickell can
    Not going to Ohio State
He loves ND but Kelly is safe there
Reports of The Fighting Fickells to MSU are gaining steam on the wild world of message boards
