Short answer, there's a turf war in Indiana between sports betting companies and they're trying to outdo each other in handing out free money to lure customers. And this will happen in other states as the legalization spreads. You can be against gambling but when they're handing it out this easily, just take it.

This will eventually happen in all 50 states. Just a matter of time.
    The rich will get richer.
The poor will try to get rich, but eventually get poorer.

    So this happened...

One of the local reporters tweeted that he'd do anything to catch a broadcast that teamed Kennedy with Bill Walton...

Sure does. Story says the paper obtained the police report. Why not put the PDF online and link it within the story?
Make and model is a basic deal here. If that info was redacted, the story must say so.
Another question: The cop describes Simpson as stumbling away from the car. At 3 am. Says the officer did not notice alcohol on Simpson's breath. Wouldn't you test for blood alcohol content anyway? Or is it standard procedure that you only proceed to the breathalyzer if noticing something?

Have they followed up in an attempt to talk to the AD?

That was literally just handing people $45. I was very glad to have noticed this on DK’s twitter account.
