Feldman isn't the type to just throw a name out, or drop a name in as a favor to a source.

    A big presence all right.

The ribs restaurants reeling from the passing of George Perles would rejoice.

Hell, why not give Pelini a call?

Smoke seems to be rising around the prospect of Bielma.

Bret Bielema has 'definite interest' in Michigan State football coaching job

You'd guess if they're getting hot on Bielema, they've probably already made a phone call to favorite son Pat Shurmur and gotten shot down.

Also the name of Jim McElwain at Central Michigan is popping up. Although at this point we may just be at the shit-splattering phase of the whole saga.

Before they go to Tressel, MSU alum Pat Shurmur is available

Well, "available" in that he's working as OC with the Broncos; it's not like he's flipping burgers at Burger World.

However, since Shurmur is now 0-2 in NFL head coaching stints, it's hard to visualize him getting another shot in the league any time soon (or maybe ever), so a head coaching job in college might look attractive to him.

At Tom Izzo's weekly presser today, in answer to questions, he said he was "involved" in the football coaching search. (Apparently he has spare time coaching his *unranked* basketball team, currently losers of 5 of their last 8.)

Mooch ... tanned, rested and ready??

Why would Mooch leave his cushy gig?
Bielema would be like a return to the John L Smith days
    So would McElwain
I wouldn’t mind giving Chris Creighton a look

Let Tressel coach for 2020 with the idea you’re going into 2021 with a new plan. It’s too late in the game to get anyone suitable for long term anyways

Mooch: I'd guess a Big Ten HC would make a healthy bit more than a mid-level teevee commentator. Maybe one big payday before retirement?
Creighton is 28-47 at EMU. He won big before that at the small college level.

John L. Smith is painted by many, especially in the Perles-Saban-Dantonio mafia, as an utter unmitigated disaster as Sparty head coach. In fact, he was 18-18 the three seasons prior to his final 4-8 season, shockingly similar to Nick Saban's 19-17 mark in his first three seasons and Perles' 17-17-1.

The last two recruiting classes have essentially been wipeouts, the current class probably even worse. Naming an "interim" coach in effect means you have to write off another class.

John L Smith was the guy who said of Michigan -Michigan State: “No different than Idaho-Idaho State.”
On a National Signing Day, when asked about a local recruit he didn’t get: “He was looking at Michigan and Ohio State. Why would he look at us?”
    FUCK John L Smith
