Heh, true. Fun fact: There are parts of Virginia that are closer to Indianapolis than Richmond, so yeah, we're spread out a bit.

It takes about the same amount of time to drive from El Paso, Texas, to Los Angeles, as it does to drive from El Paso to Beaumont, Texas.

In fact, El Paso is closer to L.A. than it is to Houston.

It is further from Houston to El Paso than it is from Atlanta to Houston.

I'm new to Texas, and JJobs.com only seems to allow filtering by state. This is delightful when trying to figure out how far places are from the Houston metro area. "Hm, that's great, this one is only a 14-hour drive..."

I'm originally from Texas, and took a job a state or two away several years back. After the first BabyFlip was born, we were looking to move back to be closer to family, and as I was looking at jobs in El Paso, I realized that we would be closer to family if we stayed where we were, out of state.

I would say two hours is away from home.

It takes two hours to drive 10 miles in some parts of Pittsburgh. More you get lost than traffic. Scare the shit out of a Millenial new to Pittsburgh and tell him he/she can't use Waze anymore.
