Between Jordan's tribute and seeing that old video of Mutumbo giving him crud about not dunking on him recently - it's weird. Jordan's kind of cultivated this image of being a standoffish stone cold warrior.

    Jordan was off-the-charts unreal today.

I was wondering if he would get up and talk. His history of speeches is... not great.

He was great. It was really moving.

And serves as a reminder that as much as the Pistons won the 2004 title, the Lakers, ie Kobe, threw it.

I'd guess that a primary theme for the defense will be that Kobe applied pressure which resulted in the pilot flying in unsafe conditions against his better judgement -- a concept which if it gains traction, I suppose could result in the other victim families suing Kobe's estate on the grounds he was partially responsible.

When they do a lawsuit like this, they sue *everybody*. The ones that your lawyers can't find a way to make it stick to get their charges dismissed. That's a standard way to go about it.

Some sort of legal action inevitable, given our times. The timing could have been better.

Agreed. This is total speculation, but it is possible under his life insurance plan that in order to recover in the event of an accident that you sue the parties responsible and that claim is assigned to the insurance company
