There is no salve for that. Or for a miscarriage - a horrible thing for a couple to go through because it is so deeply personal. No one else can feel that pain but them.

You either believe or you don't.

I'm starting to see Inky's point. This is going well past a rational discussion of whether or not G-d exists into something more hostile. (I'm talking about 'yab's posts.)

Believing in an unprovable unified theory of existence is not religion, it’s a philosophy. Reciting and acting according to an absolute fact of god as you see it and the exclusion and ridicule of others who do not accept your facts, while unprovable, is religion. Using your factual religion to deny life liberty and property to those who deny your facts are facts is Also a tenet of all the Abrahamic religions.

Happy Ash Wednesday! Giving up beef and pork for Lent - no burgers, no hot dogs. I'll also follow Pope Francis' plea and try not to be so negative on the Internet.

I'm spending extra time each day reading. I'm incorporating the "Prayer" book by Scott the Painter and Justin McRoberts.

    Scott Erickson Art

I saw Scott's "Say Yes: A Liturgy of Not Giving Up on Yourself" last year and was hooked.

I give up all sweets and soda. (The latter is frankly not that hard.) I also have a prayer list I try to go through that’s unrelated to the prayer requests we get each Monday out of our church. (Good news, we’re starting to get 10% more or in the last 3 months, always a good sign.)

outstanding. How about spend Friday’s with me and 50 other people at the oncology infusion center where chemotherapy takes place. Preach how god created the heaven and earth and all things, including cancer. Cancer is gods choice and he has chosen you to suffer. Preach and pray

it’s time for god to repent. Sending his only begotten son to die for the sins of mans first 2500 years has not made a difference.

if HIV is gods answer to homosexuality, that is the view of the Vice President of the United States. What is juvenile diabetes the answer to? What’s did MS suffers do to deserve their fate?

Why is G-d responsible for Mike Pence's homophobia and the way he uses religion as an excuse for it.

Why do you engage? Don't accept and use the terminology of people who believe. You don't have to argue against them.

I don't identify as an atheist. Part of it is political, but more importantly, I don't allow for the idea of a god. I cannot use a term that presupposes the possibility of a god.

Let it go. Just be confident in your knowledge.

Because scumbags and degenerates use god to punish the human beings. If you believe in a sentient omnipotent deity who can intercede in human affairs, you are as much a part of human suffering as disease and war.

Don't think in those terms. You lose before the fight even starts.

I am in a situation in which I have to acknowledge and accept people with a belief in god. I'm probably an asshole to some of them and I am not as gracious towards them as I would think or wish, but in the end I can't give a shit.

We know tons of people who believe in god, are kind to us, pray for us. No one we know has used god as excuse for a terminal disease or used it to justify bad things happening to good people. I’m gracious, kind and truly touched by their generosity of spirit. They would be kind with or without their beliefs. God comforts them. The ones that use god to guide their decisions that affect other people’s lives deserve contempt.
