I mean, the people buying that tripe are the same apologists who don't wanna hear about his rape accusation, so it kind of makes sense.

Every one of those deputies should be fucking fired with full loss of pension and benefits. But they won't. Because the police union is apparently the only one left in this country that has any power.

Police unions terrify politicians and police leadership alike. Not a shock that they continue to go unchecked. And problematic police officers tend to get passed around to other agencies like the abusive priests. Always thought that hauling in the entire force for a day of retraining after every problematic incident would help encourage officers to drum out the problem officers. And make officers who are bounced go through the academy again if they want another job. They want to be all for one and one for all? Fine, they all go through retraining when someone screws up.

They have to be dealt with. No different than passing along priests or doctors with malpractice issues who were not forced out, just moved and started over. It's wrong, it's abusive, and sooner or later a scandal awful enough will come along and blow it wide open, a la Weinstein.

F**k those folks; you carry a gun because WE let you. This crap is not acceptable and you need to do something else. WE can’t be afraid of them. Screw letting it slide. If WE don’t stand up it just continues.

Am I a keyboard warrior? No. I spent time with the Mayor of my city today and I’ll tell her about this and voice my displeasure.

This is absolutely fucking unacceptable. What a disgrace.

Our families had the option to view a lot of photos that had to be taken by the coroner's office. Some on my brother-in-law's family side wanted to. Those on my side did not. I could barely stomach seeing photos of the crash site in the NTSB report. I was physically sick just reading the autopsy reports that I made sure my parents did not get a copy of them. Seeing photos of where they found their remains? No chance.

If, by some miracle, these assholes are fired, it won't matter. Dan is correct. Another jurisdiction will hire them almost immediately, and they'll probably successfully sue for back pay, because arbitrators almost always side with the disciplined cop.

Two recent cases out here - a business owner asked a fishing buddy (who happened to be a police chief) to help him discredit an employee accusing him of discrimination. The chief not only involved his subordinates in the scheme, pulling the employee over, surveilling him, but managed to get their buddies at the Portland PD involved. It wasn't made public until the employee and the city's insurer agreed to a civil settlement. The city council wasn't even made aware. One of the officers involved has since been promoted. Another took a job with the state police academy to instruct future officers and the chief retired with full pension etc.
And then there was an incident at the state police academy, three recruits were involved in an incident that left one of them in serious condition after hours with a cracked skull. A brawl? Hazing? who knows, none of the three were believed to be fully forthcoming with investigators. All three currently on payrolls of three different agencies. Unclear if they'll still be able to be officers, because officers tend to have to show up in court from time to time and are expected to tell the truth.

I don't know what you can do. You crack down and suddenly get hit with a case of "blue flu." Maybe "hire" the union to train and hold their officers accountable - deduct settlements from a retirement fund.
