I wonder if they'll slide Romo into their golf coverage. He could do it, and they could replace an Immelman or Love and who'd notice?

He could be the first player-announcer in sports history!

"Jim, I 'm reaching into my bag and pulling out my 7 iron. I'm thinking it's just a bit too tricky for anything else, especially with the lie I'm in. Now over to Dottie at 17th while I send this one towards the pin, right corner. Dottie?"

CBS's owned and operated stations break down is 8 in NFC cities and 7 in AFC cities - (with NY and LA counting in both) and an NFC-aligned market in Sacramento. The Sunday package probably more important. I do wonder if CBS might make a push for the NFC deal since they do have an o and o in Dallas. Of Fox's 17 owned and operated stations, 13 are in NFC cities, the rest could all be considered tangential markets (Austin, Orlando etc).

It's going to be a different landscape with the next contracts. The "AFC" and "NFC" packages are going to look a lot different. We've already seen changes with crossover games in the past few years.

Fox is staying put. It has double/tripled down on sports.

What will ESPN/ABC/Disney do? They pay the most for the weakest package. Who's to say they don't up it and take the Sunday Night (with its flex) package? Or double down and get SNF and, say, the AFC package. They've already screwed over CBS by nabbing the prime SEC package.

CBS lost NFL rights before and felt the full brunt of that -- and that was 25 years ago. Same with the Peacock.

The NFL has these networks by the gonads.

Disney has said they'll put MNF back on ABC if they keep the rights, which will probably help ratings. CBS and then NBC losing the rights did more for the NFL's bottom line than anything else. Throw it the decline of pretty much all scripted network programming, football is the only thing surviving.

It's the last broadcast network hit, the true descendant of "I Love Lucy." And as long as there are four networks, one's gonna be last and will overpay for a known hit.

WWL has to back up the Brink's truck to get Manning.
They'll get crucified if they send Tess/Booger back out.
Let's just go with a round number of........20 million per.
    That'll get his attention.

That's a little surprising. It obviously wouldn't outdraw the NFL, but it seems like they do well enough with that reality show rotation -- Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, and Bachelor in Paradise -- that they have a solid block of counter-programming they wouldn't be in a rush to replace.

I think that block of shows is strong enough to move to another night, though.

Is that something the NFL wants or is it Disney's choice? If it is the latter, I wonder how much cord-cutting is a factor and ESPN's loss in advertising rates.

So who would ESPN put in the PxP chair if not Tessitore?
