CNN was doing a little of this last night. I think by and large, Bernie was not doing as well as he did four years ago in some states or remained stagnant in others. California might be the exception depending on what late surge Biden got, but he had a very disappointing night. Hell, look at New Hampshire and how he barely got the win there. Granted some of this is a divided field and we may see something closer to what we saw last year now that it is basically a two-man race, but he does not have the swell he did in 16 that disrupted the Dem primary.

EDIT: I just looked at the RCP numbers 2020 vs 2016 and the vote totals are actually higher across the board but in terms of counties won and I think margin of victory is down. Again, probably because it has not been one-on-one, so we'll see in the coming primaries how things shake out.

Sanders was also a far better candidate 4 years ago. He's been pushed left. He can't or won't say no to his in-the-streets proletariat wing of the party. (In attempting to impeach Trump over a phone call most of the American people* couldn't give a shit about, Pelosi could no longer say no, either.)

*half of America wants to impeach Trump but I’m confident a good portion of that is “by any means necessary,” not because the phone call was particularly compelling

Maybe the dems aren't as enamored with the erasing of student debt as this board is.

Warren's only error was not going after Bernie from day one. That was where she was going to get votes if she did. More proof also that candidates with detailed policies and plans tend to fail because voters much prefer being offered pies in the sky.

She finished third in her home state. Biden never even campaigned there. I'd say her presidential aspirations died last night, once and forever, but she's proven to be a typical political phony who sticks a wet finger to the wind and adopts positions she thinks are politically beneficial. Problem is, she's only sticking those fingers up around white, highly educated people. Her shit don't play to the masses. But she can always re-triangulate, maybe offer immigrants a free college education if they can get over the border, or some such shit.

Yeah. She was gonna pay for it with a wealth tax. It was a plan with drawbacks for some and benefits for others, like every political proposal. It bothers so much why? Because you weren't one of the beneficiaries. OK, that's how politics work. CD, you characterization of Warren ignores her like entire career in public life in favor of what sure seem like silly stereotypes of all politicians. She ran, I supported her, she lost. I wish she hadn't, but I'm pretty much over it before lunch the next day. I am a big enough boy to know that those who challenge the status quo lose more than they win because otherwise it wouldn't be the status quo, would it?

It was an egregious affront to people who worked hard and sacrificed and saved. It was asinine. It isn't even debatable, except on this board of wackos.

And some prefer those pies be cold, on a banquet table.

Nah. I wanted to be on Team Warren but, over the last 9 months, she just wasn't a good candidate. 8 years ago, she's terrific. Now, like so many other Democratic candidates - although not Biden as much - she's been sidetracked by identity politics both on a large and personal scale. It's in vogue to be a victim now - equally so to be a part of some marginalized group - and she really leaned into it, to the point where she's saying she'll consult a 9-year-old transgender kid about secretary of education.
