President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

Bit of a stretch to call deputy White House liaison at the Department of Commerce a top role; seems like the sort of job that a very impressive/connected young campaign staffer would get even in a competent administration, not that I know whether this person is any of that. It could also be that they can't find any more experienced political appointee they would trust who would want the job for what could be only ten months, and they wouldn't trust any career person to fill that particular WH-related, personnel-related job. (They may also just be running out of people they know & trust anyway - Trump's people were outsiders and didn't know all that many experienced Washington people to begin with.) I may have posted before that other administrations have put out the word to political appointees about a year before the election that if you're going to leave, do it now so we can fill the job. But other administrations were competent.
