Yes, My issues are the environment and civil rights. I have often wondered what I would do if trump was the person who championed those 2 issues. (though I can't imagine believing in those 2 things and being a person like donald trump, I realize that is a narrow opinion of people)
But I have thought of being in the position of voting and having trump be the guy I needed to vote for. I honestly don't know what I would do.
Maybe I do, now that I realize literally as I type this, I think you can support someone and still be critical of their faults. Maybe it would be helpful if pro lifers, etc. criticized him for his conspiracy and obstruction behaviors and keep him in check while still supporting him.
Like parents with a toddler, haha.

Unfortunately we always debate what someone said while not using all of their words. She did say that it was 1/4 or 1/8 of his supporters that are deplorable. She also said part of his supporters were middle class who have had a tough time but the discussions of her comments rarely included that

All that is possible. The ten month employment in exchange for uprooting your life and going to D.C. (if you're not already there) is a real factor. I would add that White House employment under Trump is far from stable and that competent people have had a long time to observe this WH and decide what they think of it. I imagine that for a lot of experienced and competent people at this point the answer is "I'm not going to stick my foot in that bear trap".

Since we are talking about it. Here is what I believe is the whole quote...
Also I previously incorrectly stated the amount, I thought she said it was less than half.

"You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”

She said the other half of Trump’s supporters “feel that the government has let them down” and are “desperate for change.”

“Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well,” she said.

Did anyone else watch This Week with George this morning? A couple of take aways:

They had Ben Carson on to talk coronavirus. This guy is such a disaster. Watch the clip when ABC posts it. He's trying to sound competent while still minimizing the impact, which at this point is way beyond a bad look. He's terrified of saying something that contradicts Trump or the current policy. George says that the cruise ship in California is docking tomorrow and asks what the plans are for the passengers. Carson answers that the plans are still being formulated. George: "When will they be ready?" Carson: "We should have all that completed in three days or so." George: "The ship is docking tomorrow." Carson "Durrrrr". (Free translation)

One other thing that came out of the discussion of the ship was that over a thousand of the passengers are over age 70, which I was not aware of. That really ups the ante due to the nature of COVID19.

Rahm Emmanuel made a great point during the roundtable. Presidents all have some sort of mechanism for getting away for a little while and de-stressing. GHW Bush would go to Kennebunkport, Reagan and GW Bush to their ranches, etc. For Trump, his big battery recharger is his rallies - and at some point soon, those are going to have to go away. Trump can still go to his various properties, but he won't be able to hold court there, and indeed at some point his germophobia is going to isolate him even further. Push that a bit further and it is entirely possible that there are no D/R conventions as well.

It was still stupid to say it because it gave the other side ammunition against her.

You guys are wishfully thinking that Trump's not going to have his rallies. He'll have them undoubtedly, regardless of what the COVID19 status is where he's gathering.
