That's not it at all. Trump would want to continue them even if half of those attending them die. Cities and states are going to eventually begin to put in anti-crowd measures and quarantines as an anti COVID measure. I would not be surprised to see Washington Gov. Inslee do something of the sort soonish. Eventually even the GOP will be forced to take a stance on it. These are not fundamentally different from SXSW or Emerald City Con.

I mean, if he wants to push to continue having them in the face of a growing infectious disease crisis, go for it. Think of it as evolution in action, winnowing the shallow end of the gene pool. If nothing else, the optics of half (or less) full rallies would lead to their suspension, because fear and self-preservation eventually outweighs even Trump worship.

Add that at some point, Trump's personal germ phobia will kick in as well.

Well you do have to be sick in the head to work for the racist traitor in chief, particularly if you are a person of color.

That's my point; his team will override any Governor or Mayor's restriction; besides, any place left that he can appear in public is so hardcore GOP that the local authorities will welcome him anyway.

For that matter, I think that both Biden and Sanders should seriously consider suspending their political rallies as well. They can debate in an empty studio, and all they'll lose is the clapping after making a point.

I think the difference in approach would be noted and commented upon, so it makes sense both politically and from a public health standpoint.

"Russia, Ukraine, Burisma, Mar-a-Lago, Wikileaks. It's all a sideshow, Mr. Garrison. To cover the simple fact that Donald J. Trump couldn't get ANY job in the federal government. Except, POTUS. Good luck."

Sometimes we get so caught up in "whatever they do is bad" that we completely ignore that down deep, we really agree on a lot of the stuff Trump is trying to do. We know we agree with it because many Democratic politicians have said the same things over the years. We may see all kinds of demons in the details and corruption in the Crock Pot, but from a sense of policy . . .

---- Most people want his/her taxes to be lower. Rail all day about "the rich got most of the benefit" (mathematically they HAVE to), but everybody likes seeing that paycheck just a little fatter.
---- Most people want illegal immigration severely curtailed. There will always be sob stories ("Father of three served in the military and is being DEPORTED!!!!"), but ILLEGAL immigration has been a problem for a long time and just has not been dealt with harshly enough. There shouldn't be all these sob stories, because it never should have reached the point where people were here that long illegally.
---- Most people don't want to die in a nuclear war. Thus, getting along with Russia is not ipso facto a bad thing. You don't have to even be "friends" with them (which is likely impossible). But going out of our way to sanction companies working on a pipeline so they can do energy business with Germany . . . is none of our fucking business. That just gives them a reason --- a good reason --- to hit back and hit back hard. Why invite that?

I see President Trump's SJ.com spin machine is up and running today.

We want our taxes to be lower, but we want that for everyone. It doesn't have to be the super rich who benefit the most at all.

I don't think your assertion regarding immigration is accurate at all and we also want it done right. The issue isn't "a few sob stories" and if you would dislodge your lips from Putin's ass long enough to actually understand what is going on in this country, you would know that.

Regarding your last point, are are not more secure with a president who screws over our allies while being manipulated by Russia and conned by North Korea. You really think we are safer when the leaders of both nations have less reason to respect us now than they did four years ago?

The price of oil is indicated to crash from where it traded Friday at the open tonight, on the price war that Saudi's have launched because Russia refused to join in on production cuts. Oil could be down close to $10 a barrel.

If that is the case, US junk bonds are going to take a walloping tomorrow. US oil producers are way in over their heads, and they can not survive $33 a barrel oil.

Tomorrow could be a day of a reckoning. If it is, it's not going to be a pretty day in US markets.

It won't be pretty either way. The oil markets are a big issue, certainly. The oil companies and fossil fuel in general are a large percentage of the economy. I lived in Texas, and I have direct knowledge of what happens when the price of West Texas Intermediate drops too far. That said, if oil was completely off the table, I think the market would still drop like a rock. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the virus will continue to spread. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the WH has blown the chance to prepare, to put policies and systems into place, or apparently even to discuss them seriously.

I mean, what part of the market is confident in their business model over the next three months other than the health care supply sector? Maybe not even them, because they are as tied to the just-in-time supply chain as the rest are.
