Many years ago, there was an NYE edition of the Village Voice with this at the top of the front page:

No, things are not all right. Lorne Greene is dead and Ronald Reagan is still alive.*

Kinda feeling the same way tonight.

*It was a long time ago, I could be misremembering the exact copy.

Some things are too important to cancel. I can still watch Total Recall every night on Showtime.

Wife tried to add TP to our usual WM pickup for Sunday. No dice.

I went on Amazon and the only TP left there is the rough, cheap stuff.

I imagine watching his team might do that regardless of any pandemic.

While true, if he ends up having this, holy crap. Number one, what the hell was he doing? Then, what does this do to sports all around? Got to think it just aids to shut it all down.

Reports say Miami Open tennis cancelled. Tennis season to resume April 27. Maybe.

Spent 20 consecutive birthdays at the Miami tournament from 1995-2015.

That was more in response to performers being hacked off that their careers are being damaged by things they said or did. It kind of pales in comparison to what is going on today.

Clay Trumpist is going off on all of this of course, claiming it's just an excuse to make his boy Trump look bad. He teed off on the Ivy League, a convenient target because they're universally known as libruhl elites even though they're the sort of places that give us Ted Cruz and, well, Donald Trump. But the Ivy League is probably right. Think about it. If you can't commit that your campus will even be open after spring break, where would the student-athletes stay? Where would they eat? Would the power be on for practice at night or under afternoon clouds?
If campus is effectively closed, there's no way logistically to make sports work for that many teams.
