    The Fed to the rescue.

    Announced $1 trillion (as in a T) of 3-month repo operations over the next two days. That is their bazooka. It's on top of the $175 billion of liquidity (they just upped it the other day in their first panic move) they are going to continue with every day.

    Equities bounced, but are still down a lot on the day.

    This is all they know. They created the credit mess / pile of tinder for which the virus was the match. ... and their answer to it is going to be to answer a leverage problem by pushing more leverage out. Unfortunately, they saddled us with an intractable, unfixable problem that is going to cause a lot of misery for a lot of people, and they are just going to make it worse now before getting the F out of the way and stopping already.

    Has anyone else imagined if we were in the middle of an impeachment-triggered transition right now?

    On the one hand, Pres. Trump would no longer be in the way with his bravado and penchant for lying his tits off. Perhaps the markets would fare better if VP Pence were more confidently reading a teleprompter.

    On the other, the President would be a full-stop unapologetic skeptic/opponent of basic science and some might argue common sense. Yes, even more so than Pres. Trump, who is only indifferent to them. There is no reason to think the testing, etc., wouldn't be just as fucked up with Pence in charge, and it could very easily be worse.

    In a weird way, though, maybe the country would be calmer, because it would have taken a bipartisan decision in the first place to make impeachment happen.
