Muh Muh Muh My Corona (virus)

Not all Georgia public school districts have closed, though the Atlanta-area ones have. I assume our district will make that decision soon. We don't have any confirmed cases yet, but a few people are self-quarantining after returning from a trip to Italy, and someone in the next county who was at CPAC is self-quarantined.

My niece is returning Saturday from what was supposed to be a college semester in France. She doesn't have any symptoms but will be in quarantine for 14 days. We assume that means my sister & her husband will need to be quarantined too. I'm going to drop off groceries for them, but at least my sister has today to stock up.

We have the first confirmed case in my town. In the coming days, we’ll see what happens with the colleges in town as well as the elementary schools my girls attend. Last night, before the case was known, their school preemptively cancelled tonight’s scheduled daddy daughter dance.

We knew it was coming (or already here), but this makes it concrete. No one is immune, and yet Trump is the prince wearing a mask and trying to ignore Poe’s red death.

*Edit: I forgot to mention that my 73-year-old mom lives with us, so it could hit home sooner rather than later.
