I do wish Twitter users would STOP changing their handles to WASH YOUR HANDS, and just fuck off.

It's all they've got. Blame Obama and deflect. It's pathetic.

Illinois governor calling on Trump to do something about the airport. Fat chance. Blue state. Didn't vote for him.

“Flattening the curve” will keep the virus from overwhelming our health care apparatus but it will also prolong the pandemic, probably by many months. Maybe that’s why the red hats are fighting it: It will cause that much more economic damage.

Just a reminder that we’ve never seen this kind of panic under any other presidents. Not Pearl Harbor, not 9-11, not ever.

The benefit of flattening the curve is avoiding the initial huge spike that Italy faced. We're far better off if the severe cases are spread out over a period of weeks. Otherwise the hospitals run out of ICU, respirators, and beds in general, health care workers burn out or become sick themselves, and we wind up with field hospitals in tents. In Italy, the hospitals are doing wartime triage with their severe patients. If you don't know the term, triage is the sorting of the wounded soldiers flowing into the field hospitals. They sort people into three groups - the relatively minor injuries, patch them up and move them on, the badly injured but savable, who get MASH type surgery and are then moved on to rear area hospitals, and the third group is those who are severely injured, beyond help with the resources at hand. Those guys get heavy doses of morphine and are left to die in peace.

We damn sure don't want our civilian hospitals to get to that point. Flatten the wave all we can, string it out. Everyone's chances are better that way. I'm about resigned to the idea that I'll get it sooner or later, and I have a history with bronchitis and pneumonia. I'm not a prime risk, but I'm on the list. I'm frightened to death about my wife catching it.

Appears most of the major hubs in the U.S. As with everything, Trump makes it so much worse.
