President Trump: The NEW one and only politics thread

I'm of a mind that I know I used to like Biden, but I think there is something to the fact that he has aged, and not necessarily well, in the past few years, and it makes me unsure of him. And yes, I'd vote for Kasich in a heartbeat if he were in the race. (I liked and was impressed with him back in 2016, too).

Both candidates tonight had senior-moment stumbles that I fear would only increase, in frequency and severity, as time goes on.

 

I don’t know if Biden would cut SS as president.

But if he doesn’t plan to do that — fine — why not just say exactly what you said here? Why not admit that he had said that in the past but say that he’s since changed his mind? I think we all would have respected that. It’s frustrating when politicians tells us they want the lying in the WH to stop and then they themselves aren’t completely straight with us.

 

I don’t know how that gets paid for, either, and it’s absolutely fair to be skeptical. His campaign not explaining that to us more thoroughly isn’t lying, though. It’s certainly not the same as flatly denying something that can easily be confirmed via a Google search. There are several examples of Biden doing this over the last few months, too.

 

Clarence Thomas is no spring chicken himself. It goes both ways.

In fact, I'd keep an eye on Thomas as a barometer on Dumbo's chances. If it looks hopeless, he'll be encouraged to pull the ripcord ahead of November so the Dems don't get that seat.

 

Biden also lied tonight about supporting a ban on fracking. He doesn’t support it. He said he didn’t write or support the bankruptcy bill when there’s evidence that he was a huge champion of it. He said he’s been a longtime supporter of ending Hyde when he just changed his mind on it last year. He said Bush fooled him on the Iraq War when there’s video out there from 1998 of him wanting to go to war to eliminate Saddam.

That is in addition to falsehoods he’s told on the campaign trail about being arrested for supporting Nelson Mandela and marching during the civil rights movement.

Just because he’s not as bad as Trump doesn’t mean we should be totally fine with all of this.

 

OTOH, if the VP goes to Klobuchar, expect the Berners to scream bloody murder for months.

 

If I recall correctly, this was at the time that Bill Clinton was fighting for a balanced budget, and as part of that Biden voted in favor of a one year hold on a Social Security Cost of Living increase, not cutting SS.

 

I've gone on record several times as saying I don't think anybody (ANYBODY) should be POTUS past the age of 70. And yes, both of them had some goofy-old-gaffer moments.

But, my god. Remember, we're talking about a delusional, deranged, incomparably stupid liar and pervert.

In other words, fucking trash.

 

BTW, with Greenwald running full-throttle interference for Fucko for well over two years, anything and everything The_Intercept says must be taken with a Olympic size swimming pool full of salt.

That’s fair, but there are multiple video examples of him talking about cutting SS over the years. It wasn’t just that one time. He perhaps (likely) feels differently about cutting SS now but I wish he’d have been more straight about it, or at least explained it, rather than giving a flat denial.
