Gotta think the NBA is done thinking about finishing this season in any way.

Why? It's a two-week recovery period. Start up in June, finish by mid-August.

I posted a video a while back about what China did. Once they sent people home, if they left, everywhere they went their temperature was taken. Get on a bus, temp. Go in a building? Temp. Go back to your apartments? Can't get in without a temp taken. Anyone with a fever is sent to a fever clinic and given several lab tests and a quick two slice CAT scan. They are held there until the test clears the pt or confirms infection. If there is a delay, pt is held in a quarantine hotel until the test clears him. The Chinese stats say that 75-80% of infections involved family clusters. It is not possible to quarantine at home without infecting others unless you live alone. If positive, they go to a clinic for treatment. At no point once an elevated temperature is noted are they allowed to go home.

That's straight up Public Health 101. It's authoritarian as hell, especially the temp taking guards everywhere, and there would be all sorts of Bill of Rights outrage here, but this is how they beat it down. It remains to be seen if it holds once people begin to leave home and go to work again, but it damn sure broke up the increase in infected.

Our infected numbers continue to double every three days or so, and that is unsustainable.

Here's where that came from, and he explains it firsthand. It is absolutely worth your time. The source is Donald McNeil, health and science reporter for the NYT.

And then start another season on or about Nov. 1?

You think people won't still be transmitting this in June? I'd love to share your optimism but it's awfully hard.

Well, this whole crisis is based upon the theory that once you get it and recover, you're immune. If that's not true, we're all fucked and nothing will ever be normal again.

So what are people supposed to self quarantine on with all the couches burned?

Almost relieved that West Virginia finally turned up on the list. Seemed implausible that a state with poor general health would have zero cases. Makes me think the Trumpist governor, who encouraged his state to "go to Bob Evans" yesterday, put the kibosh on all testing and reporting of any trouble in service of his lord and savior.

Jake Tapper seems to be apparently on nerve about the coronavirus tonight.

Kansas is saying schools are likely done for the year, now California may be moving in that direction too.

If summer puts kids behind the eight ball already, I can't even begin to imagine what it will do to them to be out from mid March to mid August.
And on a personal note, I didn't get to say good bye to most of them. My first class and I don't get to say good bye.

Newsom: Most California schools likely out until the fall
