Muh Muh Muh My Corona (virus)

Stinks man. Kids, and likely teachers, always are so excited for breaks but this is something else. I have kids in 9th grade through preschool and I know they are all going to have a hard time with it.

 

Covid-19 and Coronavirus don't really describe what we're going through. Let's just call it The Lost Spring.

 

My senior year of high school was 1993-94 in the Northeast. Beginning with MLK Day, and going through about the middle of March, we did not have a week without a snowstorm that made us have at least one day out of school. A couple of them cost us three or four days. Even after they took away President's Day and a couple of other scheduled days off, we still wound up having to go an extra 10 days.
Which sucked ass, because it was the first year they trimmed the number of snow days built into the calendar from four to one. We usually got out of school around June 20, and were supposed to get out that year on June 12 (IIRC). We wound up graduating on June 22.
Anyway, I remember by about late February even us students groaned every time snow was in the forecast, because we knew it meant another day tacked on to the end of the year. I can't imagine if we'd have had to go an extra month.

 

Me: Hello can I get a coronavirus test?"

CDC: Sure, which basketball team do you play for?

A pre-schooler we know just tested positive. She got the test b/c she was in a class with a teacher who is sick with CV. Her mother had sent her to school sick, which is a thing with some idiot moms.

 

Well, she had to go to work. What was she supposed to do, stay home with a sick kid during a pandemic?

 

Guess this no longer applies then.
