I did the survey today - I'm guessing the popularity of 23 and Me will give them a lot more info than they are prepared for when they ask the ethnicity question.

That ethnicity thing isn't what it once was. I remember when this town was real skittish about interracial couples, and of course in the bad old days it could/would have gotten a black man killed. I know easily a dozen middle class to a bit better people who have children in interracial marriages and mixed race grandchildren. Throw in the couple with the two little girls they adopted in China. There's still overt and covert racism, of course, but the stats are going to be a lot wider than they once were.

I hadn't thought it through, but the census is going to be all kinds of screwed up. That means the chance to jigger things in the name of fixing them.

Out and about today couldn't help but think about homeless populations who don't have a place to self-isolate, typically are medically vulnerable and have no choice but to congregate in public. Shelters are already unsafely crowded. Indifference to societal problems is really dangerous.

Don't recall which thread Jake Tapper's concern over coronavirus was mentioned, but here's a link to a good interview he had with Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Would love to see more bands, comedians and performers follow the lead of the Dropkick Murphy's and create digital content aimed at least bringing a sense of community and acknowledgement of the current situation. Shoot the thing has 7 Million views already.
SNL could put together four decent sketches, Funny or Die, etc. Make stuff so it disappears within a couple of days to give it currency. I'm sitting here with a pint and listening to a band I know exactly one song from - and it's pretty great. Not the best St. Paddy's Day, but easily the most unique. Hell. get three unique comedians and have them do a video chat from remote locations.
