how about the ones with other diseases or conditions or chronic illnesses who died because there wasn't a bed at the hospital for them?

Unless a bunch of people are infected at grocery stores, it's kind of hard to infect anyone these days.

My past 5 days:
Friday --- go to grocery store, run 3 miles, walk dogs, work from home
Saturday --- hit tennis balls, walk dogs, work from home
Sunday --- walk dogs, run 3 miles, work from home
Monday --- walk dogs, run 3 miles, work from home
Tuesday --- walk dogs, run 3 miles, work from home

 

There are something like 2000 cases in the UK now. But of deaths there still remains a relative handful, mostly confined to older people and folks with underlining conditions. If this trend continues - which is by no means certain - most people are going to go back to their lives as best they can.

I know this sounds stupid but if this happens, it'll be around the Easter holidays. It'll start with the neighborhood pubs quietly reopening - for "take out" - and become a flood shortly thereafter.

We've reached the "stop-and-frisk" denouement of our play...the social distancing/quarantine/lockdowns might prove to do the trick, but ultimately for some people all it will prove is that the issue was overblown to begin with and none of the steps taken should have been enacted.

I just don't know how anyone can NOT be encouraged by the stabilization of China's numbers. You want good news? It seems to be there. Hell, outside of Hubei province, they have barely HALF the deaths (69) that we do, with four times the population.
