    We've got Trump at the helm, which is a disaster. He's now in the position of spending other people's money without being obligated to pay any of it back, as it is not his money. He'll be great at that, if not at deciding the smart things to spend that money on. You can bet that he's going to spend federal money in ways that he thinks will buy him an election. A chicken in every pot my eye, a five thousand dollar check in every pot!

    I posted that on Monday. ... We just dipped below that December, 2018 level. You got about a half hour of panic selling. Outright panic / forced liquidations. You'd think that kind of panic would signal capitulation, which should make for at least a short-term bottom. We'll see. But if we close today below 2300 on the S&P, look out below. Again, may not happen in a day, but there will be more downside, absent the Fed / ECB/ BOJ or some magical fiscal package that does the job that their attempts so far haven't accomplished.

    Looking ahead there is ONE potential saving grace coming up. It's options / futures expiration on Friday. What is called a quad witching. Where the major indexes finish out this Friday will stick to the quarterly performance figures of a lot of money managers out there and they are using options to try to juice their returns. So it will turn into a game of chicken between traders trying to make a quick buck on a take down and those managers who will be trying to create some positive window dressing. I wouldn't be totally surprised to see a take down followed by a short squeeze / panic buying into the close on Friday that stabilizes the market. Again, we'll see.
