The choice of "Wuhan Virus" is intentional. Wuhan is more "foreign" to the American audience than "Chinese." The word China is in our cultural and literal dictionary as not only a country but as a kitchen or dining item.
I get your point on "Chinese virus," but Trump and his klan didn't ramp up the use of that phrase until they saw they were losing the battle to ignore the entire issue. So they had to express their bitterness in a new way. That's it.

Well, MERS is Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome, and the Swine Flu originated in the U.S., so there's that.

I’ve never understood why it’s called the Side Russian Leg Sweep, or the German Suplex.

It's a way of blaming it on someone else. That's always a front line Trump tactic. If you can dog-whistle your supporters while doing it, that's a bonus.

    Hell of an article here.

“There’s No Boogeyman He Can Attack”: Angry at Kushner, Trump Awakens to the COVID-19 Danger

"As Trump processes the stakes facing the country—and his presidency—he’s also lashing out at advisers, whom he blames for the White House’s inept and flat-footed response. Sources say a principal target of his anger is Jared Kushner. “I have never heard so many people inside the White House openly discuss how pissed Trump is at Jared,” the former West Wing official said."

Jarey Boy gets locked out of the Pretty Princess's bedroom. As if he's ever allowed in there for any other reason than to vacuum.

It was inevitable that the snakes in this game would eventually turn on each other. I mean, how amoral and lacking in self awareness do you have to be to let your daughter marry Jared Kushner, who wanted “the rabbis to handle it” when his dad cajoled his brother in law into infidelity so that he could blackmail him. Trump really is an amazing study, someone who is all bombast and bulls hit who has somehow surrounded himself with immoral people like Michael Cohen, but who successfully insulates himself from irrefutable crimes that really resonate. But I said long ago so with the Don Jr Russia meeting that this family would implode from friendly fire when someone was up against it. Somebody has to take the fault for this and it ain’t gonna be Trump. It’ll be Kushner or Miller bc of that awful rose garden speech edited on the fly and rife with errors. Miller is the wordsmith for every policy that dog whistles to the base. Ya can’t make a villain out of him; that’s political suicide. Would we be surprised that the guy who fetishes his daughter would take out the guy he basically cucks, Jared? We are so fucked

So many people are out of their depth in this administration that tv host feel compelled to offer ideas and help and this WH listens to them because they've run off or fired legions of experts who have trained their entire careers for a moment like this.
You need a task force on the economy, a task force on health, a task force coordinating state and local government response, a homeland security task force. And a task force coordinating global response. Each helmed by competent individuals. But no - let Jared handle that, let Mike and Steve do their thing.
Has Trump even met with Pelosi since this thing started? The top banks? The tech industry on what they can contribute (free internet, coordinated messaging) The CEOs of the health care industry? Grocers and food distributors? Haven't heard much from Pompeo.
