    It's been doubling every three days, so it will have doubled twice by next week.

    The Trumpist game plan, in order of deployment:
    1) It's the flu! Nothing more than the flu!
    2) The death count is tiny. Way less than car accidents or the flu or anything else. People die. Get over it.
    3) *()$ them. They're old anyway and deserve to die.
    4) The stock market went up 12% today. In one day!

    I don't forbid it at all, I just don't understand why people read others whose style or personality they so aggressively disagree with.

    I think for myself it would be Reilly.

    It could be in part a combination of:

    1) States that haven't tested many residents have only tested the ones they think are very likely to be infected, while those that have tested more may have tested some they only believe might be infected;

    2) Less wealthy + more rural = less international travel or even international awareness, so less concern and less testing, at least at first.

    Germs don't take a time out.

    We're going to have to develop systems to live with this for a while, I suspect. At this point there must be people with their shit together working on that, but we're certainly not hearing from them yet. This thing is going to have to get worse to make believers out of the yammerheads, and by the time we're there the spread will be very large. Folks are going to need to get a bloody nose, to daily see headlines about how many people died, or that some celeb that they like has. I saw a tweet with eight double spreads of obituary notices in an Italian paper. That's when people will start getting real.

    To some degree at least, the ones who refuse to listen and take precautions will get thinned out. Or maybe they'll learn by giving it to grandma and having to live with it when she sickens and dies. Stupidity can carry a death penalty.
